How to Rotate Tires on a Toyota Camry

How to Rotate Tires on a Toyota Camry

Since its debut in 1983, the Toyota Camry has maintained a solid following and continues to be a good selling car. It is a favorite for singles and families alike because of its recognized reliability. Your tires will last longer and wear more evenly if you rotate them every 6,000 miles or so. Follow the steps below to rotate tires with four jack stands.

Difficulty:
Moderate

Instructions

things you'll need:

  • Four jack stands
  • Lug nut wrench
    • 1

Use a lug nut wrench to loosen the lug nuts on each tire.

    • 2

Block the back tires with a piece of wood to keep the car from rolling while you jack up the front of the car. In addition, tire rotation should be done on a flat surface to prevent rolling.

    • 3

Place two jack stands under the front of the vehicle, one on each side, and jack up the car. Leave just enough room to take off the tires. Lift the rear up on the other two jack stands.

    • 4

Move the passenger side rear tire to the front, and passenger side front to driver side rear. Switch driver side rear tire to the front and driver side front to passenger side rear. Continue with this "X" pattern each time you rotate the tires.

    • 5

Tighten the lug nuts by hand so the tires will stay on.

    • 6

Lower the rear first and replace the wood behind the tires. Lower the front end and then go around and tighten each lug nut securely with the lug nut wrench.

Tips & Warnings

  • Never allow anyone to go under the car while it's up on jacks.

  • When you rotate tires yourself, you will not get the benefit of balancing that is done in a service station.

  • Never use bumper jacks to raise a car, as it is not stable and can loosen the bumpers.
